24TB HDDs Fully Qualified for ARI and Ability Product Lines

RAID Incorporated, a leader in designing and implementing customized high-performance storage solutions for HPC, big data, cloud, and software-defined data centers, today announced the qualification of 24TB SAS HDD drives for its ARI block storage and Ability JBOD product lines. The HDD drives offer a storage capacity of over 2PB in 5RU of a standard depth rack and 2.5PB in 4RU of a deep rack. Additionally, the ARI 609, fully populated with JBODs, boasts a base capacity of 8PB in half a 42U rack.

In addition to serving as standalone external Direct Attached Storage (DAS) JBODs for standard serial attached SCSI (SAS) host connections, these solutions seamlessly integrate as expansion companions for various storage applications. These applications include software-defined storage (SDS), object storage, high-density storage archiving, cloud, backup, data replication, and video streaming or surveillance.

The recent increases in the capacities of both 22 and 24TB drives have led to a lower total cost of ownership for both ARI block storage and Ability JBOD product lines.

“The advancements in both NVMe and traditional SSD capacities highlight the significance of integrating higher-capacity NLSAS disk drives into storage technologies, both new and traditional. This development is highly welcomed and promising for the industry,” stated Marc DiZoglio, General Manager of RAID, Incorporated. “The landscape of applications is rapidly evolving, driven by an increasing demand for storage solutions that enable fast and cost-effective data storage and retrieval. The recent increases in capacities allow customers to store and recall data faster while being cost effective at the same time.”

24TB HDD’s are shipping immediately on the ARI 600 and ARI 609 as well as the Ability 84 and Ability 106 product lines. It is estimated that approximately 235 Exabytes of capacity were shipped in the first quarter of 2024 between the two leading competitors in the HDD market.
