Industry First Turnkey Lustre on ZFS Appliance Announced by RAID Incorporated
RAID Inc. partners with Whamcloud to deliver groundbreaking ease of deployment and management for cost-optimized performance storage.
RAID Incorporated, a leader in designing and implementing customized high-performance storage solutions for HPC, big data, cloud and software-defined data centers, today announced the launch of Pangea, the first turnkey Lustre on ZFS appliance in the market.
Pangea is a high-performance, secure, ZFS-based Lustre appliance that leverages the affordability and customization flexibility of commodity hardware. RAID Inc. works with customers to develop the right combination of software and hardware for their specific needs, delivering a user-installable software stack that makes setup and maintenance easy with minimal staffing.
“At RAID Incorporated, we continue to enhance our Lustre on ZFS capabilities with this new disruptive appliance. Over the past several years we have seen and heard our customers that have asked for an appliance similar to what we have been delivering to the Lustre marketplace and we believe Pangea is a groundbreaking solution,” said Marc DiZoglio, President of RAID Incorporated.
Pangea’s software tools were designed to greatly simplify deployment and support by taking the guesswork out of both hardware and software complexity during set up, and expansion. ZFS Online Operating Module, or Z.O.O.M., will allow users to locate failed devices, scan subsystems, show inventory and more, furthering the value of the appliance.
RAID Inc. has partnered with Whamcloud to provide this preconfigured, highly available software stack for Lustre. Easy to manage, this stack ensures systems won’t breakdown. Pangea is also fully supported by RAID Inc. and Whamcloud for deployments of all sizes. To learn more about Pangea, please visit Pangea Solutions on our website.
“With RAID Inc., we have a partner that represents the ethos of the Lustre community – building innovative solutions on top of a supportable open source community effort,” said Carlos Thomaz, senior architect at Whamcloud. “RAID Inc.’s expertise is a key enabler for customers looking for performance and scalability without complexity.”
Pangea was designed to scale, deliver a lower cost of ownership, a denser footprint and be easier to manage than other Lustre/ZFS products in today’s marketplace. Coming in with an all flash-based appliance or massive capacity in a low cost per gigabyte, multi-unit system, the appliance is flexible – all with painless paths for further expansion and lower total cost of ownership.
