HPC for Enterprise IT – a Hot Topic!
In our daily news/blog feeds, we have seen an uptick in articles about why Enterprise IT, the Data Center, etc. should not shy away from high performance computing (HPC). A common argument for adopting HPC is that the cost of these systems has, and continues, to decrease and that HPC components have become modular and “integrate-able” into existing ecosystems.
See our recent GPFS for Seismic Data Storage snapshot where we integrated our Perseus offering into a client’s legacy infrastructure comprised of over 5,000 compute nodes. Perseus is a building block approach, using standard commodity hardware, with storage and management functions such as ILM, disk caching, snapshots, replication, striping, and clustering via intelligent software.
HPC for the Enterprise – in the News
As Arthur Cole references says in a recent IT Business Edge article, “one of the key aspects of enterprise-class HPC infrastructure is visibility.” Software defined storage and open hardware designs allow for IT to monitor the ecosystem and solutions compatibility in real time, which is becoming critical in today’s data hungry world.
From a recent EnterpriseTech.com article: “Industries relying on digital innovation or digital manufacturing for success see HPC as critical infrastructure since they support the strategic and competitive capabilities that differentiate an organization.”
RAID’s Experience in Integrating Custom HPC Solutions
RAID, Inc. has a proven process to help companies, universities, research organizations, government, and other industries leverage the power of HPC via an analysis of total cost of ownership, an examination of each layer of the existing infrastructure to understand the customer’s unique environment and full installation and support. This process is done whether the customer is looking for a full turnkey solution or just a single product to solve a specific need.
