HPC for Enterprise IT – a Hot Topic!

In our daily news/blog feeds, we have seen an uptick in articles about why Enterprise IT, the Data Center, etc. should not shy away from high performance computing (HPC).  A common argument for adopting HPC is that the cost of these systems has, and continues, to decrease and that HPC components have become modular and “integrate-able” into existing ecosystems.

See our recent GPFS for Seismic Data Storage snapshot where we integrated our Perseus offering into a client’s legacy infrastructure comprised of over 5,000 compute nodes.  Perseus is a building block approach, using standard commodity hardware, with storage and management functions such as ILM, disk caching, snapshots, replication, striping, and clustering via intelligent software.
