GPUs in the News
GPUs are a force behind some pretty interesting computing technologies, including Deep Learning, an emerging subcategory of machine learning. The performance of GPUs in matrix/vector math an algorithms is uniquely suited to this discipline as, from Wikipedia, “GPUs have been shown to speed up training algorithms by orders of magnitude, bringing running times of weeks back to days.” We couldn’t resist the chance to highlight one that InsideHPC featured today.
Gastrograph Benefits from GPUs
Jason Cohen’s review app called the “Gastrograph” analyzes over 600 user generated variables to give customers real time alerts to changes in their products’ flavors and potential quality issues. Cohen’s team uses GPUs to run machine learning and AI in order to train “deep neural networks with many layers” to detect issues with beverage flavors. This quality control is especially useful to the craft/artisan beverage industry, providing customers with unique insights into competitive trends. Check it out.
