Performance and Scalability The X48 is RAID’s latest solution in 4Gb Fibre to Fibre, designed to be the industry’s most scalable system in its class. The system provides unprecedented performance and scalability featuring (12) 4Gb Fibre Channel bandwidth. The X48 dual controller can be scaled to (14) FC JBODs using Fibre Channel drives and (3) SAS JBODs using SATA-2 drives for a total of 272 drives.
The X48 solution is ideal for large SAN and datacenter storage initiatives. The solution utilizes 4 or 2 Gbit Fibre Channel disks, providing superior performance and redundancy with dual loop technology. X48 system comes in a backplane-based enclosure with redundant, hot swappable component pairs. Operation statuses are constantly available. This solution was designed to support both DAS and SAN configurations and to be interoperable with all standard FC4 or FC2 host and switch interfaces. In addition, the X48 control head supports up to (12) 4Gbit FC4 ports which can eliminate the need for a 4Gb FC switch. X48’s interoperability ensures that all standard host cards and switches work seamlessly with the system. All X48 systems are StorageWatch® capable allowing users to reduce both infrastructure TCO and organizational operating costs associated with today’s business of data assets and intelligence that is required in ensuring long term organizational growth initiatives. Infiniband Networking RAID Inc. has qualified various director-class InfiniBand based switches to provide a virtual gateway for environments that demand extreme performance. This provides users with a low latency, multi-protocol interconnect fabric that supports cluster inter-process communication, shared storage and networking I/O access.
