RAID Incorporated™ Announces General Availability for High Performance
4Gb Fibre Channel RAID Array
The X4, the newest addition to
RAID’s X-Class family of products, offers ultimate flexibility and
scalability
Release Date: May 29, 2007
Methuen, MA - RAID Incorporated™ today announced their new 4-Gigabit
Fibre Channel (4G-FC) RAID subsystem: the X4. The new X4 doubles the
available bandwidth of the previous generation, benefiting many applications
which require high performance, e.g., enterprise primary data storage,
database applications, online storage and audio/video streaming. With
twelve configurable 4G-FC host ports, customers can choose to have more
direct host connections or more drive expansion ports.
The X4's high-availability dual-controller provides fault-tolerant
components, ease of capacity expansion, and failover capabilities to ensure
business continuity. The single-controller version offers capacity with
performance-oriented storage, with affordable hardware and scalability.
The X4 is fully equipped with the latest fault-tolerant RAID functionalities,
including RAID 6 which ensures data availability in the event of two hard
drive failures.
Also introduced are the new Fibre Channel JBODs with
switching technology that come with single/redundant connections. The
combination of an X4 subsystem and JBODs makes it possible to have up
to 224 disks in one configuration. Customers can easily achieve high transaction
performance for their database and web applications or build high capacity
and sustained performance for their audio/video applications.
“The increased bandwidth provided by RAID Inc's
third generation FC architecture provides the X-Class family of products
with the performance, reliability, and scalability that our customers
require,” stated Tad Gambiza, Chief Engineer at RAID Inc.
X4 Highlights
- 3U, 16-bay, 4G-FC-to-4G-FC RAID subsystems available in either single
or redundant controller models
- 3U, 16-bay, 4G-FC JBOD subsystems available with single/ redundant
connections
- Channels can be configured as either host or drive channels, giving
high flexibility to create more host connections or additional drive
connections as required
- Expandable up to 224 hard drives by adding JBODs
- New generation RAID controller architecture features high-speed cross-controller
communications which enables redundant controllers to supply high performance
