RAID Inc. releases 12TB 4U Falcon Storage SystemRelease Date: November 8, 2005 RAID today announced that they have increased the density for their Falcon II, FC to SATA-2 product line with the arrival of its new 24 bay, 4U Falcon storage system. The system comes with either single or dual FC2 or U320 host controllers and supports either SATA-1 or SATA-2 disk drives. “Increasing the density for customer requirements continues to drive our product line” stated Robert Picardi, COO of RAID. “Many of our partners have been looking for us to achieve 10+TB in 4U of rack space and we are happy that we can announce this product as generally available before year end.” By using 500GB SATA-2 disk drives which were separately qualified for use, the combined capacity point of the system equals 12TB as a base, 11+TB in standard RAID 5 configurations, or 6TB in RAID 10 ESF Solutions per disk module. “We will continue to push the capacity point on our Falcon line and plan to introduce a 48 bay, 4U Falcon in early 2006 which will allow for 24TB of disk in a single enclosure” stated Greg Morris, CEO of RAID.
