The single or dual controller solution is designed for users that demand high performance and need a mid-level expandable solution. The Magellan is available in a 12 or 16-bay modular solution that allows customers to expand storage needs over time. The modular design allows users to expand storage needs to a maximum of 5 chassis or 80 drives. Reliable and Cost Effective Now, customers who preferred SCSI solutions for reliability can migrate to a total backbone of SAS using low cost SATA-2 drives, SAS drives or any combination of both. The Magellan is the first generation in tiered storage that uses 15,000 RPM SAS drives and 7,200 RPM SATA-2 drives allowing you to match drive technology to application and performance requirements.
